Although touchscreen in car is a trend now, still there have so many concerns on it, such as distraction, reliability issues. Therefore, this drives me to redesign EV car touchscreen experience.
• What are the reviews of Honda E touchscreen?
• Which information on dashboard is driver needs and c commonly uses?
• What is the big concern of touchscreen in car?
• Why it makes users worry?
• Why driver is distracted by touchscreen?
The study reveals drivers tend to use the speedometer, indicators, power range, radio and clock frequently.
User concerns that losing the immediate response of physical buttons and large screens can cause a distraction.
Users become stressful and distracted easily when dashboards have too many options, and convey complex instruction. Users would feel overloaded, then they tend to stop paying attention on eyes on the road.
In order to solve touchscreen in car distracts users and users tend to feel losing control while using touchscreen to operate functions, so I would redesign the car touchscreen.
The results should have appropriate data representation, less process to complete tasks, and clear instruction to guide users.

After I've designed and compared the pros and cons of several versions, I choose this as my final design. It has distinguishable visual representation and clear function instruction.
In this redesign layout, I only preserve the information is relevant to users. And I eliminate the function that user can switch music or navigation to reduce the distraction.
Clear information is much more important than the amount of information. Users can view the album information very clear in this layout.
I used color to enhance the easiness of decision making, then users can quickly distinguish the difference between options.
Power charge is a very serious thing to EV car. And in this redesign prototype, users can find nearest charge station by only one click.
User scan only complete one task in high pressure environment. Giving the most of the space to calling task helps users to fulfill calling process.

After finished this project almost a year now, I reviewed this once again, and I found some improvement I can make to have a more easy to use experience. For instance, I might decrease the color I used or even lower the saturation, and hide some unnecessary information such as arrival time calculation or try another way to display it.
